Open the X6 page on the official store and you don't get one buy button, you get a wall of bundles. Standard Edition, Essential Kit, Bike Kit, Travel Kit, Starter Kit, and several sport-specific ones. It's the last obstacle between deciding to buy and actually buying.
The good news is that the decision is simpler than the menu suggests. There's one question that resolves it, and a quick piece of arithmetic that tells you whether a bundle is genuinely cheaper for you specifically.
Bundle names, contents and prices vary by region and change over time, so treat the contents below as a guide and confirm on the store page before you pay.
The one question
Are you going to use an invisible selfie stick and a spare battery?
If yes, a bundle almost certainly saves you money, because those are the two things you would definitely buy afterwards anyway. If you already own them — most people moving up from an X5 or X4 Air do — the Standard Edition is the sensible buy and you keep the difference.
The three bundles that matter

The critical difference for riders: the Essential Kit does not include a clamp mount. It's the better all-round bundle, but you can't attach it to a bike without buying a mount separately. The Bike Kit includes one.
The store also lists a complimentary extended warranty with the Essential Kit. Offers like that come and go, so check it's still shown at checkout rather than assuming.
What each bundle costs in Japan
Comparing bundles without the numbers is guesswork, so here is the price list I work from. These are official Insta360 Japan store prices, checked on 2 September 2026 — the market I buy in. Insta360 prices each region separately, so treat these as the shape of the gaps between kits rather than the figure you will pay at home.

The useful part is the gap, not the absolute number. The Bike Multi-view Kit sits ¥15,900 above the Standard Edition, and the Essential Kit ¥17,000 above it. Whether that is worth paying is exactly the arithmetic in the next section.
The arithmetic that actually decides it
Don't compare bundle prices to each other. Do this instead, in your own currency, on the store you're buying from:
- Write down the bundle's premium over the Standard Edition.
- Look up each added item's individual price on the same store.
- Add up only the items you'd actually buy — ignore anything you wouldn't.
- If that total beats the premium, take the bundle. If it doesn't, take Standard and buy what you need.
That last filter is the one people skip. A bundle is only a discount on things you were going to buy. Four items you half-want are not cheaper than two items you need.
When I ran this in Japan for the Essential Kit, the à-la-carte total of the four added items came out clearly above the bundle premium — so for anyone buying those parts anyway, the kit was effectively a discount. Your numbers will differ by region, but the method holds.
What the extras are actually for
Invisible selfie stick (114 cm)
The one item I'd argue is non-negotiable if you've never owned a 360 camera. The stick vanishes from the stitched footage, so the camera looks like it's floating behind you. Without it, you have a very good camera taking fairly ordinary shots. With it, you get the footage people buy these cameras for.
Spare battery
8K is hungry. If you film across a whole day — a tour, a trip, an event — one battery becomes the thing that ends the shooting, and it always happens at the good bit. Cold weather makes it worse.
Fast charge case
Carries and charges several batteries together. It's the difference between "film, charge, film" running continuously across a multi-day trip and juggling one cable in a hotel room. On day rides you won't miss it.
Rubber lens cap
Small, dull, worth having. The lenses are exposed, and most damage happens in transit rather than while filming. Replaceable lenses are the safety net; a cap is what stops you needing it.
Heavy-duty clamp (Bike Kit only)
The part that attaches everything to the motorcycle. Nothing else in any bundle does this job, so if you're filming from a bike, you either take the Bike Kit or buy a clamp separately. See nine real mounting setups for what people do with it.
Which one should you take?
Take the Bike Kit if you
- Are buying this mainly to film riding
- Don't already own a clamp mount
- Want to be filming the weekend it arrives, without a second order
Take the Essential Kit if you
- Are new to 360 cameras and own no accessories
- Film across whole days — travel, events, touring
- Know you'll end up buying most of this anyway
- Want the charging side sorted from day one
Take the Standard Edition if you
- Already own an Insta360 selfie stick and batteries
- Shoot mostly on fixed mounts and rarely use a stick
- Prefer to buy accessories deliberately, one at a time
- Want to keep the initial spend down
Upgrading from an X5 or X4 Air? Check this first
Plenty of X-series accessories carry straight over — selfie sticks, clamps and mounts use standard fittings, so there's a real chance you already own the expensive part of any bundle.
What doesn't carry over is anything shaped to the camera body: batteries, lens kits, protective frames, filters and port covers are model-specific. Check your drawer before you pay for duplicates — for a lot of upgraders, Standard Edition plus one X6 battery is the right answer.
If the total is looking steep
Worth saying plainly: the X5 is still a current model, still shoots 8K30fps, still has replaceable lenses, and costs less. If the bundle price is what's making you hesitate rather than the camera itself, read X6 vs X5 before you commit. An X5 with a good mount and a spare battery will out-film an X6 you were reluctant to buy.
A note on the bonus lens kit
